Zen Garden, Zen mind
Online Version

What recent guests have to say:

If there is any experience that truly and unmistakably deserves a resounding 5-star review, it’s Andrew’s tour, and I am glad to see that everyone seems to agree with me.

Through a virtual visit to one of Kyoto’s true hidden gems, the temple of Konchi-in, he speaks of Zen-Buddhism, Japanese culture and the behind-the-scenes of Japanese garden principles.

Andrew is incredibly talented and knowledgeable. Besides his expertise, he is absolutely magnificent in making his tours interesting to anyone, no matter age, interest or previous knowledge of the subject. There is a palpable atmosphere of familiarity in his tours that makes everyone in the group ease up and relax, to truly experience the beauty of Japanese gardens.

I’d recommend his tours to anyone, and I loved the online version of this one just as much as I loved the physical one before that. If you have even the slightest interest in Japanese culture (even if you don’t!) don’t miss out on the opportunity to join Andrew’s tour.

That was awesome! A perfect solution not only for these lock-down times but for whoever want’s to enjoy this amazing experience but doesn’t have the opportunity to travel to Japan. The garden was breathtaking and the narrator was experienced, knowledgeable, and an extraordinary story-teller!

I felt like trespassing the computer screen and be transported to the garden. Highly recommended! So looking forward for the next tours!

(This) online Zen garden was an amazing virtual experience. I had the privilege of doing this tour in person back in February. Visiting again Nanzen-ji Temple via Zoom brought back great memories of this magnificent place. Andrew has a gift of story telling and the way he shot and edited the temple and its garden made me feel I was there. Looking forward in visiting more temples in Kyoto with An Design...Highly recommend trying these virtual tours since they are the next best way of getting to know Kyoto’s gardens, shrines and temples.

Our daughter had been to Andrews in person tour and recommended the online tour. My husband and I enjoyed it immensely. Andrew was so great at explaining the gardens and answered all of our questions. It was the next best thing to being there. Very peaceful.

We took this tour in person last year and loved it, so were very excited to see it offered online. Happy to report the online version was fabulous! Great to dive deeper into Zen Buddhism and how it manifests in gardens, while viewing wonderful footage of some of the wonderful gardens of Kyoto. Highly recommend for the quarantined and curious.

We had visited Nanzen-ji before (Last November) with Andrew (live) - and did it again virtually last Saturday. Andrew is such a fantastic guide being able to teach you so much about Culture, Religion, and History of the Zen gardens. It was a great experience, and we are looking forward to his next tour. Thanks so much, Andrew

We took the online version of the Kyoto Zen Garden tour because we had to cancel our travel plans to Kyoto given the pandemic. The experience was way more than we expected, the tour was online and Andrew had prepared a very well structured tour, which he complemented with videos, photos, and music. We felt deeply immersed in the tranquility of the temples, and the explanation was incredibly detailed. Absolutely worth it as an online experience from home, it was fun, relaxing, and we learned so much about the depth of the Japanese Zen architecture.
